Not one bit.<\/strong><\/p><p>The website you browse or the service you access in either mode still reads your IP address, still takes your browser fingerprint, still recognises your user agent.<\/p><p>Your protection against online threats, such as drive-by downloads of malware from a website, is still the same as in normal browsing mode.<\/p><p>Finally, your ISP can still see what you are doing online.<\/p><p>Search engines and browsers listed below might not necessarily address all of these concerns &#8211; probably the best known, privacy oriented search engine.<\/li><li><strong>Disconnect Search<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/search.disconnect.me\/\">https:\/\/search.disconnect.me\/<\/a> &#8211; powered by DuckDuckGo, with a transparent <a href=\"https:\/\/disconnect.me\/privacy\">privacy policy<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>eTools CH<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etools.ch\/\">https:\/\/www.etools.ch\/<\/a> &#8211; a privacy oriented search engine aggregator, currently with 17 search engines feeding into it (many of which are on this list).<\/li><li><strong>Gibiru<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/gibiru.com\/\">https:\/\/gibiru.com\/<\/a> &#8211; no account necessary, no cookies, no search logs, no browsing history.<\/li><li><strong>Gigablast<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gigablast.com\/\">https:\/\/www.gigablast.com\/<\/a> &#8211; private search engine for news, images, directories, etc.<\/li><li><strong>Intelligence X<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/intelx.io\/\">https:\/\/intelx.io\/<\/a> &#8211; a multipurpose, yet specialised search engine for anything from web infrastructure to data leaks. Both free and paid options available.<\/li><li><strong>Opera<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opera.com\/\">https:\/\/www.opera.com\/<\/a> &#8211; a privacy friendly browser with a built-in chat option and a free, built-in VPN service.<\/li><li><strong>Oscobo<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oscobo.com\/ctnt.php?c=download\">https:\/\/www.oscobo.com\/ctnt.php?c=download<\/a> &#8211; a native browser for the Oscobo search engine mentioned above.<\/li><li><strong>Osirt Browser<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/osirtbrowser.com\/\">https:\/\/osirtbrowser.com\/<\/a> &#8211; a strictly OSINT focused browser, for documenting your work. It&#8217;s due a major upgrade in 2022, definitely should be even more interesting.<\/li><li><strong>Tor<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.torproject.org\/download\/\">https:\/\/www.torproject.org\/download\/<\/a> &#8211; no introductions necessary here to anybody interested in digital privacy. A real pioneer in private browsing.<\/li><li><strong>Vivaldi<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/vivaldi.com\/\">https:\/\/vivaldi.com\/<\/a> &#8211; another privacy focused browser with innovative features, such as split screen tabs or built-in mail client.<\/li><li><strong>Waterfox<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterfox.net\/\">https:\/\/www.waterfox.net\/<\/a> &#8211; no telemetry, no tracking &#8211; and it claims to support various Chrome and Firefox extensions.<\/li><li><strong>Yacy<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/yacy.net\/demonstration_tutorial_screenshot\/\">https:\/\/yacy.net\/demonstration_tutorial_screenshot\/<\/a> &#8211; not strictly a browser per se, but a locally run, user configurable search engine.
